| Supervisor Certification Scheme |
| Introduction |
In order to promote the professional status and enhance the competency standard of the Permanent Way Supervisor who plays a very important role in the construction and maintenance of Permanent Way, the CHKPWS has implemented a certification scheme which can enable the skills and competencies of a Permanent Way Supervisor to be assessed and recognized in a commonly accepted standard. This scheme is running on a voluntary basis and the purposes of this scheme are: (a) To set up a set of standards for assessing the skills and competencies of a Permanent Way Supervisor (b) To set up a recognition system for the Permanent Way Supervisors and promote their professional status (c) To formulate a skill and competency set that enable the Permanent Way Supervisor to continue improvement in these areas. |
| The Scheme |
This scheme is divided into two levels: (a) Permanent Way Supervisor (Level I) (b) Permanent Way Supervisor (Level II) The Permanent Way Supervisor (Level I) is targeted for junior supervisor who are actively employed in either construction, inspection, maintenance and/or renewal of permanent way with a certain degree of experience and knowledge. The Permanent Way Supervisor (Level II) is targeted for those who have attained the Permanent Way Supervisor (Level I) qualification together with adequate experience and knowledge and can satisfy the assessment broad at the time of interview. Applicants with less academic qualification may apply for the Permanent Way Supervisor (Level II)
